Website Analysis

The website I chose to analyze is nick.com. Many people are familiar with this website as it is also a television network. The website contains many items associated with the different shows that are on the nick channel, such as games, videos, and a link to shop for accessories associated with that show. There is also a link to view the schedule of airing times for the shows. I think this website mostly appeals to little kids but could also appeal to adults when they want to buy toys for their kids or as a gift to a child. But who am I to say, maybe some of the adults like to play the games on this site as well as the little kids, or like to watch the videos. I think this website mainly serves as entertainment, for playing games, or watching videos, or reading about the shows and the kid celebrities. It also serves as a way of advertising their television network. From the the way the website was put together, I feel that the tone of the site is less serious. The website contains pictures of the characters from the different shows, ranging from cartoon characters to actual people. The expressions of these characters are silly, making faces, and smiling, which I feel brings out a happy and humorous feeling from the audience.

Cool website choice. When you say, "I think this website was mainly meant for entertainment," how do you back that up? You mentioned games, but there has to be more. There are specific details that the web designers use to evoke certain feelings. So when you say it could be for adults as well as kids, why? Something about the shapes, the colors? Why would an adult be on the nick site? Also, wouldn't you think that they want to do more than just entertain with their site? What else would a tv station website want to do? How does this site do that?

I totally love your website choice. Event though I'm in college, I still love watching cartoons on this tv station with my little cousins, nephews and neices. But I am more fond of the olders cartoons that showed during the 90s like Rocko's Modern Life and the original Rugrats. Good website choice.

I like your website choice. I think the main reason for children sites like these is not only entertainment for the children, but also gives a strong advertising presence away from the television. Bright and fun images are a powerful form of advertisement, especially for young children. Maybe I'm wrong, how do you feel about this idea? Anyways, Nick is a very recognized cultural symbol and can convey very influential messages to children. I'm not saying they don't, but do you think companies such as these should feel morally obligated to keep their sites ethical?

I really liked your website choice and until I read your post and agree with you that this sites audience is mainly targeted to young children. I know my younger cousins love going to this site and playing with the games they have to offer. I also think the color choices the author offers is very important for the targeted audience. I can't really imagine kids wanting to play games on a site that are full of dull colors, but would be much for interested and drawn to a site with bright colors and animation.
